MoH Hosts U.S. Teams for Strategic Contributions

Ministry of Hope recently welcomed two teams from the U.S. to support various initiatives in Malawi. One team was led by Dave Frey and Paul Sigmund from Liberty Corner Church, both of whom are major donors for the Malawi Visions program. The second team, led by Francis Hallam, supports the Crisis Nursery.


Liberty Corner Church Team Contributions: team consisted of Dave Frey (MOH U.S. Board Member), Paul Sigmund, Bob Gamble, and Stewart White. Key activities included:

  • Installing a solar-powered water facility at the Katondo Center, providing essential water for both domestic use and irrigation

  • Upgrading solar lighting and power at all six MOH centers

  • Training the Malawi Visions Coordinator on the maintenance of sewing machines

  • Dedication of the new water system at Katondo, marking a significant milestone after years of challenges

  • Donating 50 Chichewa Bibles for Spiritual Development programs

  • Helping serve lunch to 1,700 children at the Chimwang’ombe Center during a feeding program

  • Installing solar-powered battery boxes in 8 homes at Khwamba, providing lighting and a pilot program to expand further

Francis Hallam and Team’s Contributions: led by Francis Hallam and joined by her son John, Derby, and Rita. Substantial donations to the Crisis Nursery, including:

  • Baby formula, groceries, maize, groundnuts, beans, rice, a new cooker, and a gas stove

  • Covering six months’ worth of water and electricity bills for the nursery

  • Purchasing medicines and school supplies, including 10,000 exercise books and 400 blankets

  • Participating in four Mobile Clinics and leading a Vocational Bible School program at Mponela Center with the help of ABC volunteer students

  • Filling in for Peter Barbano, who could not join the trip due to health reasons, and overseeing lean season supplies for the feeding program


Lean Season Supplies Provided:

  • 1,340 (50kg) bags of maize

  • 171 (50kg) bags of beans

  • 133 (20kg) bales of sugar

  • 572 bales of soya pieces

  • 1,007 cartons of U-Fresh soap

These contributions have played a critical role in sustaining MoH’s programs and providing much-needed resources to the community. With the continued support of generous donors, these initiatives will be able to sustain and expand, benefiting even more individuals and communities in the future.
